All of the performances will take place at York Theatre Royal in different locations around the building. There will be SLAP staff on hand to help you on the day if you have any questions or need help. Just look for someone wearing an orange lanyard!

Travel

Train - York railway station is just a 10 minute walk away, with excellent rail connections across Yorkshire and to the rest of the UK along the East Coast mainline.

Directions from the station to the theatre: turn left after exiting the main entrance of the station and continue past the Principal Hotel, going straight over the crossroads. Follow the road under the city walls, then turn left and head over Lendal Bridge. You will see the Minster in front of you as you pass York Museum Gardens on your left. At the crossroads turn left and York Theatre Royal is right in front of you, on the right-hand side of the road. The De Grey Rooms is immediately adjacent.

Bus - A number of local bus services stop directly outside the theatre including numbers 1, 2, 5, 5A, 6, 19, 29, 30, 31, 31X, 40, 56, 58, 812 and 884 – ask for the Theatre Royal stop. For more information on bus routes and times, please visit the First and Transdev websites.

Car - The theatre is approximately 40 minutes drive from Harrogate, 45 minutes from Leeds city centre, 1 hour from Hull and 30 minutes from junction 45 of the A1(M).

There are a number of car parks nearby but space can be limited so please allow enough time to park and walk in. The closest car parks are Bootham Row (YO30 7BP), Marygate (YO30 7DT) and Union Terrace (YO31 7ES).

Venue Access

At SLAP we aim to make your visit a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Please let us know your needs at the time of booking and we’ll do all we can to help.

The theatre has level entrances to the foyer, with automatic doors and a low counter at Box Office. There is lift access for the Studio, Cafe, Keregan Room and De Grey Rooms with accessible toilets on both ground floor and first floor levels.

Wheelchair spaces are available in the Studio. Please request a wheelchair space at the time of booking. If you have limited mobility, the Box Office team can advise on the best areas to sit and whether there are any steps to navigate.

Assistance Dogs are welcome in all areas of the theatre and a complimentary dog-sitting service can be arranged – please request this service at the time of booking.

For families there are baby changing facilities in the accessible toilets and free buggy parking.

Limited Blue Badge parking is available on Duncombe Place at the rear of the theatre.

Food & Drink

There are plenty of options for eating and drinking when you visit the theatre. There are two bars that open an hour before performances in the main house and food is served until half an hour before the performance of Messy Eaters begins.
